Born in 2000, Tsunoda became the first F1 driver born in the 21st Century to compete in the series.

Tsunoda began his single-seater racing career as part of the Honda Formula Dream Project in Japan and quickly rose through the ranks of the junior ladder. His third place finish in the 2020 Formula 2 championship secured himself a spot in F1 with AlphaTauri starting in 2021.
