It became Northrop Aircraft Corporation in 1929 after joining United Aircraft and Transport Corporation. It reestablished as Northrop Aircraft, Inc. in 1950 and changed its name to Northrop Corporation in 1958. It acquired Grumman Corporation, another pioneer in aviation and space, in 1994 and became Northrop Grumman. It is also a result of the integration of over 20 other companies from various fields.
