    About our Europol news

Latest news on Europol, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, which was formed in 1998 to handle criminal intelligence and combat serious international organised crime and terrorism through cooperation between competent authorities of EU member states. Europol has its headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands, and has no executive powers, meaning that its officials cannot arrest suspects or act without prior approval from competent authorities in the member states. Europol's main areas of crime prevention and investigation include trafficking in human beings, cybercrime, payment fraud, intellectual property crime, euro counterfeiting and terrorism. Europol is controlled by a Management Board, which consists of one representative from each member state and one from the European Commission.
