    About our Izmail news

Latest news on Izmail, a city and municipality on the Danube river in Odesa Oblast in south-western Ukraine. It is the largest Ukrainian port in the Danube Delta, on its Chilia branch. As such, Izmail is a center of the food processing industry and a popular regional tourist destination.

Izmail is currently under threat from Russian aggression, as Ukraine is embroiled in a war with its eastern neighbor since 2014. In August 2023, Russia attacked Izmail's grain port with drones, destroying some infrastructure and damaging a silo. The attack was part of Russia's campaign to disrupt Ukraine's grain exports and food security. Ukraine condemned the attack as an act of terrorism and called for international support.
