    Virginia is considered a swing state. In the federal government, Virginia is represented by two U.S. Senators and eleven U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner are Democrats. Of the eleven Representatives, eight are Democrats and five are Republicans. Virginia has a Republican governor, Glenn Youngkin, who was elected in 2020. The state legislature is divided between a Republican-controlled House of Delegates and a Democratic-held State Senate.
