    Louisiana is considered a red state. In the federal government, Louisiana is represented by two U.S. Senators and six U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Bill Cassidy and John Neely Kennedy are Republican. Of the six Representatives, five are Republicans and one is a Democrat. Jeff Landry is the current Republican governor-elect of Louisiana. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
