    About our NORAD News

Latest news on NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, a joint military organisation of the United States and Canada responsible for monitoring and defending the airspace of North America. NORAD was established in 1958 during the Cold War to detect and respond to potential airborne threats, such as missile attacks or hostile aircraft. Today, it uses a variety of technologies and sensors, including radar, satellites, and fighter aircraft, to detect and track potential threats and coordinate a response. NORAD is also responsible for tracking Santa Claus's journey on Christmas Eve and providing updates on his location to children around the world. NORAD is headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is led by a Commander who reports to the North American Aerospace Defense Command's chain of command.
