The American League West (AL West) is one of the six divisions in Major League Baseball (MLB) and consists of five teams located in the western part of the United States. Established in 1969 as part of the American League, the division has a strong baseball heritage and features a diverse array of teams. The teams in the AL West are:
Houston Astros: Based in Houston, Texas, the Astros were established in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s before becoming the Astros in 1965. Initially part of the National League, they joined the AL West in 2013. The team has won two World Series championships (2017 and 2022) and is known for its orange, navy blue, and white colour scheme.
Los Angeles Angels: Based in Anaheim, California, the Angels were established in 1961. They have won one World Series championship in 2002 and are known for their red, navy blue, and white colour scheme, as well as their iconic "A" logo with a halo.
Oakland Athletics: Based in Oakland, California, the Athletics were established in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics before relocating to Kansas City in 1955 and finally to Oakland in 1968.
