About our 2030 Diesel And Petrol Car Ban news

Latest news on the 2030 diesel and petrol car ban, with the UK government announcing that all new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans are set to be banned from sale in the UK in 2030.

New hybrids and plug-in hybrids will be given a stay of execution until 2035, on the condition they are capable of covering a 'significant distance' - a term which the Government has yet to define - in zero-emission mode.

The ban is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve local air quality, as petrol and diesel vehicles emit CO2, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, which have been linked to increased risk of respiratory illnesses, lung cancer, heart disease and many other conditions.
