    Baseball is the most popular sport in Puerto Rico, with many Puerto Rican players competing in Major League Baseball in the United States. The island also has its own professional baseball league, the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente, which runs from November to January and features six teams. Puerto Rico has produced many famous baseball players, such as Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda, Roberto Alomar, Iván Rodríguez, Carlos Beltrán, and Yadier Molina.

    Basketball is also popular in Puerto Rico, with the Puerto Rican national basketball team being a regular contender in international competitions such as the FIBA World Cup and the Olympic Games. Puerto Rico also has its own professional basketball league, the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN), which runs from March to June and features 12 teams.

    Boxing has a long and storied history in Puerto Rico, with many world champion boxers hailing from the island, including Félix Trinidad, Wilfredo Gómez, and Miguel Cotto.

    Other popular sports in Puerto Rico include volleyball, football and track and field. The island has also hosted various international sporting events, such as the 1979 Pan American Games and the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.
