    About our Kaliningrad news

    Latest news on Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave on the Baltic Sea. It is bordered by Poland to the south and Lithuania to the north and east. The territory was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1945 and was known as Kaliningrad Oblast until 1991, when it became a separate Russian region. The region has a population of 941,873 (2019) and a land area of 15,100 square kilometers. The capital and largest city is Kaliningrad, formerly known as Königsberg.
