Rhode Island is considered a blue state. In the federal government, Rhode Island is represented by two U.S. Senators and two U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse are Democrats as are both of the House Representatives. Rhode Island has a Democrat governor, Daniel McKee, who was elected to a full term in 2022. The state legislature is also controlled by the Democrats, who have majorities in both chambers.
