    Throughout his career, Lewis achieved numerous accolades, including being named a Rugby League Immortal, an inaugural member of the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame, and the winner of the prestigious Golden Boot Award in 1984. He captained the Queensland Maroons in 30 of his 31 State of Origin appearances, leading them to numerous series victories and winning a record 8 Man of the Match awards.

    Lewis's club career saw him play for the Fortitude Valley Diehards (1978-1983), Wakefield Trinity (1983-1984), Wynnum-Manly Seagulls (1984-1987), and the Brisbane Broncos (1988-1990). As captain and later captain-coach, he led his teams to multiple premierships and success. Post-playing, Lewis coached the Gold Coast Seagulls (1991-1993) and Queensland (1993-1994).

    Off the field, Lewis has been open about his struggles with epilepsy, which he was diagnosed with in 2006. He has since undergone successful brain surgery and become an advocate for epilepsy awareness. Lewis has also had a successful media career, working as a commentator and sports presenter for the Nine Network.
